These are not the plump, double-breasted turkeys we're accustomed to at Thanksgiving. This family of gobblers is the type our pilgrim ancestors were accustomed to.
Tough, stringy, very little meat...I've "pardoned" them in favor of a plump, domestic bird with herbed bread stuffing, yams, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie...oh, my!
And while we all dine on the abundance of this season each one at the table will share with the rest all that we're thankful for in this year now nearly almost past.
Our shared "gratitudes" will spice our Thanksgiving meal with thank-fullness and humility despite the challenges we each have faced throughout the year...and for some those challenges have loomed large.
Wishing all a Happy, Grateful, and Abundant Thanksgiving!
