Sometimes, when out and about doing chores without an egg-gathering basket, a garden hat makes a great substitute.
However, as soon as you get into the house remove - immediately - all eggs from your hat and place them into an egg carton in the fridge or set the eggs in a secure location until you have time to put them away. Where they belong. Out of your hat! Anywhere but IN your hat. DO NOT LEAVE THEM IN YOUR HAT!
They DO NOT belong in your hat! I'll tell you why.
The other day I used my garden hat to gather eggs from the coop. I set the egg-filled chapeau onto the kitchen sink and went on about my business. About an hour later I sailed through the kitchen intent upon an errand, grabbed the hat and slammed it onto my noggin.
OOPS! The cracking sounds of eggs...The sudden wet sensation on my scalp...The sloppy, slurpy sound of eggs hitting the floor...The slimy sensation sliding down my back - my front. Pooling at my feet. On my feet.
I repeat...DO NOT (ever, ever, ever) use your hat to collect eggs and leave them in it!
Okay! Here are two easy egg-based hair conditioning treatments.
Egg Conditioner #1
1 egg
1 TBS olive oil
3/4 cup of cool water
Beat the egg and olive oil together. Slowly add the water in a stream while whisking it into the egg-oil mixture. Apply to clean, wet hair with your head over the sink or tub. Rub in well. Allow to sit on the hair for a minute or two. Rinse out well with cool water. Style as usual.
Egg Conditioner #2
1 egg
1 Tbs raw honey
1 Tbs plain yogurt
Whisk all ingredients together. Apply to clean, wet hair. Place a plastic bag over your hair and tie or pin securely in place. Allow the mixture to sit on your hair for 20 minutes. Rinse your hair thoroughly with cool water and style as usual.
You must use cool or cool/warm water for your final rinse out so as not to semi-cook the egg. It's too hard to rinse cooked egg from your hair!
Egg is good for your hair! NOT so good for your hat! And, the above recipes only call for one egg...not three!
