No! They aren't dead! These Chicken Girls are simply sunbathing and napping (together) in the warm sunshine.
The first time I saw my chickens do this, I was horrified that they had all simultaneously suffered a tragic accident! I was relieved to discover that they were indulging in a bit of chicken siesta-time.
Broody Girl, the Queen of my small backyard flock, catches a few rays on one of the gravel pathways in the Back Garden.
Broody Girl is soon joined by a few more nappers.
Then Peekaboo ruins the peace of the moment by shaking out a load of dust she collected during her dust bath.
