Soon - all too soon - the first frost will kill the morning glory vines blooming throughout the Cottage's gardens. This one (in the photo above) grows in and among the blackberries. A bit of golden pollen dusts its petals.
With the first frost looming in the next week or so, I wanted to absorb the last of Summer's blooms before they're gone. There will be many long cold months before they appear again. So, with my camera I wandered the gardens seeking out morning glories, their glory, color, and whereabouts.
Season-weary foliage, now yellowed from cold nights down into the mid-30-degrees will soon shrivel and brown with the first frost. This blue morning glory grows with heartsease (Johnny-jump-ups) in an urn by the side door of the Cottage.
This white "glory", with a soft pink blush, grows among the squash - acorn, kousa, and pumpkins.
A multitude of colors of morning glories grow " over" the blackberry patch.
The front Kitchen Garden fence supports a tangle of vines bearing pretty morning glory flowers.
These pretty pink morning glories grow on the wire supports protecting the cantaloupe vines.
The headboard of this garden "bed" gives support to morning glories in the Orchard Garden.
Morning glories make a nice ground cover in this unused raised bed.
Once these beauties are frost-killed it will be many, long months before they reappear in the garden again. I shall miss them. But, for now, I glory in their blossoms!
