In the Orchard Garden the Italian plum tree is in full bloom!
Things are blooming! The bees are happy and buzzing about on those few, nice warmish days. I too, am "buzzing" about trying to get the gardens cleaned up, the lawn fertilized, watered, mowed, and its borders refreshed.
I've put out the dryer lint for birds to use for nesting material.
The cool weather crops were planted a few weeks ago and spinach, lettuce, peas, radishes, arugula, collards, leeks, onions, and carrots are all up!
Indoors, under grow lights, the tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers are up, too! Soon, I'll start some flower seeds for eventual planting out.
Tulips a'bloom and green grass. It's so wonderful to see green and blooming things after a long winter!
In the south side gardens, daffodils are winding up. But, here, on the east side of the Cottage, the daffodils are still blooming!
Probably, my most prolific "crop" right now are weeds. Lots of little weed sprouts. Everywhere! The snows and rain storms we've had have really got the weeds going. And, try as I might, the weeds are winning!
Last week a friend dropped by and commented that the gardens were a "garden of Eden". I wryly commented, "More like a garden of 'weeden'...".
Presently, getting ahead of all the weeds is my focus. The Chicken Girls keep down most of the weeds in the back garden. But since I'm trying to do clean up in the both the front and kitchen gardens, I've kept the Girls confined to the back garden and am on my own as far as weeds go.
But, the few lovely, warm, windless, snow-less, and rainless days beckon me out doors and weeding is a good excuse to do something useful and enjoy being outdoors on these nice Spring days!
